Five women and one man (average age 62.5 [20-64] years) with symptomatic intraabdominal cysts at different sites (liver: n = 3; spleen: n = 2; mesentery: n = 1) had them removed by laparoscopic surgery. Broad fenestration was performed with the hepatic and splenic cysts, while the mesenteric cyst was enucleated from the mesentery. There were no intra- or postoperative complications. Median duration of operation was 60 (45-125) min, postoperative hospital stay was 5 (3-6) days. Abdominal cystic lymphangiomas are a rare pathology that are related to abnormal development of the lymphatic system. They predominate in a children and are very uncommon in adults. Here the authors report a case of a cystic intra-abdominal lymphangioma in a 64-years old woman in which the cyst was situated in the mesentery of the jejuneum, with rapid growth. Ultrasonography, computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging led us to evaluate a cystic characterizations and his site. Surgical excision remain the treatment of choice because we can establish an histologic diagnosis. Complete surgical excision of cyst, although it can be difficult, consent a definitive healing.

Objective: The Authors report their experience in diagnosis and treatment of one case of mesenteric cystic lymphangioma; recent international literature review. Experimental Design: Complete clinical report. Diagnostic, clinical and prognostic indication, evaluation of effectiveness of radical surgical treatment and follow-up. Lymphatic Mesenteric Cyst, a Rare Cause of Surgical Abdominal Pain: Case Report and Review of the Literature

A lymphatic mesenteric cyst (LMC) is a rare clinical entity, of unclear etiopathogenesis, which can arise in the abdominal cavity or retroperitoneum without a clear origin. We describe a case of a 74-year-old male presenting with abdominal pain that was non-specific and non-responsive to medical therapy. Laboratory tests clinical examination were inconclusive while the abdominal computed tomography (CT) scan showed a cystic lesion of the ileal mesentery. We performed an open surgical excision of the lesion with the resolution of clinical symptoms. The lesion resulted to be an LMC at the histological examination.
